Systems and Components
When it comes to choosing a fenestration system, performance is an objective characteristic. We are just as passionate about design as we are performance. Vonderhaus brings meticulous attention to materials, ensuring our systems are durable, versatile, and built to perform. Not only do we strive for distinction in function, but style as well. If you have an aesthetic in mind, dive into our material options and we will help you select and customize a system for your performance and aesthetic objectives. Vonderhaus employs a rigorous quality assurance protocol, scrutinizing each product before delivering to our clients.
Our systems are available in the following operations: turn/tilt, tilt first, tilt-only, fixed, hopper and French as well as entry doors, balcony doors, lift and slide doors, folding doors and pivot doors.
Aluminum
All of our aluminum frames are thermally broken with a high-density polyurethane isolator, have multiple locking points located around the perimeter of the sash, and triple gaskets for an airtight seal. Think of a door to a bank vault. We offer both anodized and powder-coated finishes.
Wood
Our wood systems are individually tailored to each client. To provide a wide set of options for our clients, we build frames using a variety of wood species, including pine, white oak, larch, meranti, sapele and walnut. By combining expertise in CNC technology with hand-crafted assembly, we ensure utmost consistency and accuracy.
Steel
Thin sightlines. Durable. Classic. The material of choice during the 1920s. Technology has come a long way in the past century. You can still have that classic Bauhaus aesthetic, but without the condensation, draughts and inefficiency. We offer hot-rolled and cold-rolled profiles with laser fused high-density polyurethane isolators in a number of operations.

Glazing
Glazing is an industry term for glass. The performance of your fenestration system not only depends on the frame; glazing is just as important. The number of panes, layers, treatment, and type of glazing all affect the efficiency of your window or door. The largest tempered glazing unit we offer to the North American market is 22’ 1/4” x 9’ 7/8”.
ESG
ESG (German: Einscheiben-Sicherheitsglas) or tempered glazing is a type of safety glass that has increased strength. Tempering puts outer surfaces into compression and the interior into tension. Such stresses cause the glass, if broken, to shatter into small granular chunks, instead of splintering into jagged shards, preventing injury.
VSG
VSG (German: Verbundsicherheitsglas) or laminated safety glass is up to 5x stronger than regular glass of the same thickness. Laminated glass consists of two or several glass panes that are connected by a plastic foil (PVB). Laminated glass is a great solution for sound abatement and safety (it’s bullet and explosion resistant).
Acoustic
We agree with Sir Edward Coke who declared a man's house is his castle. We interpret this slightly differently than Coke intended, but all the same...we believe it. We understand one of the most gratifying aspects of living in a densely populated urban environment is the ability to escape. This is why we offer systems with superior acoustic properties.
Multi-pane
One aspect of an efficient fenestration system is the number of panes or lites. More panes equal better performance. We offer double, triple & quadruple systems that can achieve Ug of 0,3 W/(m²K) or (0.05 Btu/h·ft²·°F). Our Insulated Glass Units (IGU) have multiple layers of low-E coatings and are available in simulated divided lite (SDL).
Bird Safety Glass
Researchers estimate that a billion birds are killed each year due to collisions with glass in buildings, making bird collisions one of the most significant causes of avian mortality globally. We like birds and that is why we offer a patterned, UV reflective coating that makes the glass visible to birds while remaining virtually transparent to the human eye.
Coatings
We offer a range of coatings to protect your interior (and energy costs) from solar radiation. Additionally, we offer dichroic as well as tinted glass such as antisol available in neutral, brown, blue, grey and green.
Hardware
Hardware enables a window to open, or in our case, to tilt or turn (or both). We source our hardware from German, Austrian and Belgian manufacturers. The system you choose will determine your hardware configuration.
Handles
Oh, so many options. Actually, too many to list. We have our favorite combinations though; stainless steel paired with white oak, as an example. We will guide you through the options and provide a recommendation, if desired.
Hinges
We offer two options for hinges: visible or concealed. Most of our steel and aluminum systems are designed and constructed with concealed hinges. Visible hinges are standard on our wood systems, however, you have the option of concealed hinges too.
